Terms and conditions

These Terms & Conditions outline the agreement between the tutor and the student (or the student’s parent/legal guardian). When booking a lesson (sometimes called “appointment or event” or a workshop (“atelier”), you agree to the following.

1. Services Provided

The tutor provides French language tutoring, which may include conversation practice, grammar instruction, exam support, and general language development.

Lessons may be delivered:

• In person (location agreed in advance), or
• Online (via an agreed platform such as Teams or Zoom)

The tutor does not guarantee specific results, as progress depends on regular classes, engagement, and practice outside of lessons or workshops.

2. Bookings & Lesson Duration

• Lessons are scheduled by mutual agreement or directly via this website at least 3 days in advance and/or at tutor's discretion.
• Standard lesson duration is 45 minutes for children up to Kindy and 60 minutes for children aged 7 years old or more as well as for adults, unless otherwise agreed.
• Students are expected to start on time. Lessons shortened due to late start will not be extended.

3. Fees & Payment

• Fees are provided on the website.
• Payment is due on the day of each lesson, unless part of a prepaid package.
• Accepted payment methods include PayPal, PayID, bank transfer and cash.

Reduced Fees

We believe in fair access to quality education. Reduced rates may be available based on individual circumstances and are offered at the tutor’s discretion. These arrangements are confidential and may be reviewed periodically.

4. Cancellations & Rescheduling

• A minimum of 24 hours’ notice by email to info@frenchforyou.au or phone/WhatsApp: 0435 784 637 is required to cancel or reschedule a lesson.
• Lessons cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice, or missed without notice, may be charged at the full rate.
• The tutor understands that unforeseen situations arise and may, at their discretion, waive fees in exceptional circumstances.

If the tutor needs to cancel a lesson, the student will be offered a reschedule or a full refund.

5. Refund Policy

• Single lessons: Refunds are available only if the tutor cancels the lesson.
• Prepaid lesson packages: 
  • Packages are non‑refundable once commenced, except where required under Australian Consumer Law.
  • Unused lessons may expire after 3 months from the date of purchase, unless otherwise agreed.

    

6. Online Lessons

For online sessions:

• Students are responsible for having a stable internet connection and working audio/video.
• If technical issues on the student’s side  significantly disrupt a lesson, the lesson may still be counted as delivered.
• If technical issues on the tutor’s side prevent the lesson from proceeding, the lesson will be rescheduled or refunded.

7. Student Responsibilities

To support effective learning, students are encouraged to:

• Attend lessons regularly and punctually
• Participate actively during sessions
• Complete agreed practice, homework or revision between lessons
• Communicate respectfully at all times

The tutor reserves the right to discontinue lessons if behaviour is inappropriate or disruptive.

8. Children & Minors

For students under 18:

• All bookings and payments must be made by a parent or legal guardian.
• Communication outside lessons will be conducted with the parent/guardian unless otherwise agreed.
• The tutor does not provide supervision beyond the scheduled lesson time.

9. Privacy & Confidentiality

Personal information is collected only for tutoring and administrative purposes and is kept confidential. Information will not be shared with third parties without consent, except where required by law.

10. Changes to Terms

These Terms & Conditions may be updated from time to time. Any significant changes will be communicated to students or parents.

11. Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of Australia and the Australian Capital Territory.
